Fixing Your Diet- One Step at a Time

One of the most popular resolutions is to loose weight and improve overall health. Here are common starter’s baby steps:

1. Trading candy bars for protein bars

2. Buying salads with extra dressing instead of buying red meat 

3. Attempting to add fruit to the diet with pre-made smoothies

4. Switching from coke to diet coke

 **Not all protein bars are the same

If you have a coupon for the latest and greatest protein bar, do some research first. You’d be surprised that some BellaForzaDiet2of them have the same amount of calories and sugar as that Recess Cup you left behind in aisle two.

If you’re just wanting a snack that is sweet with some protein, try fruits and nuts.

Anne Hathaway used similar guidelines when she was training for Catwoman last year.

It is as putting a high-sodium and sugary cold soup on top of your salad. If you are aiming for that fresh taste without being plain, try olive oil. Olive oil is a great source of monounsaturated fats.

Instead of boycotting meats altogether, use lean meats on top of your salad for a good source of protein.

Not exactly.

According to Dr.Oz, artificial sweeteners are not the free ticket for weight loss. In fact, the stimulation of the sweet taste actually confuses your brain’s satiety center into thinking you are consuming calories.  The result is your body craving more food than before from increased hunger.

In other words, you’re teasing your body. What happens when we are teased with something we crave? We want more. Your body can actually become addicted to artificial sweeteners and that can lead to major digestive problems.

Though neither have nutritional benefits, try tea with a natural sweetener such as honey.
