Be Your Own Valentine

Valentine’s Day is a holiday that many people love and yet others love to hate.  When you are in a romantic relationship the day of pink and red hearts can be exhilarating. On the other hand, if you are single it can be a tad bit on the “lonely party of 1” side.  But why not change your focus on this day of love?  Think about who is most important and who you should love the most, numero uno. 

Whether you are in a relationship or single, take time to think about who you are and how you treat yourself. Do you take the time you need to make sure you are healthy (and I’m not just talking about a fitness and diet sense)?  Along with taking care of yourself physically, it is also important to make sure you are taking care of yourself mentally.  Positive self-regard is important for a happy and healthy lifestyle. If you are in a relationship with a partner, loving them unconditionally is important and done without a second though. Why would it be any different with how you treat yourself?

The key to a good healthy state of being is loving yourself.  So try to stop those self-demeaning thoughts that might creep into your mind from time to time, compliment yourself on your accomplishments you’ve worked hard for, and maybe even reward yourself as a reminder of how special you really are.  There is nothing wrong with a girl buying herself some fresh flowers to spruce of her living space, meeting up with a girlfriend for dessert or a glass of wine, or even writing a love letter to yourself about all the things you have going for you.  Take time to celebrate you! And as a bonus, did you know that a positive and happy attitude can play a part on your weight loss result? So go ahead, and be your own valentine this year.
