5 Benefits of Working Out. Even During the Winter!

‘Tis the season of staying inside where it’s warm and cozying up next to the fire. During the winter season we are always extremely busy with friends, family, holiday parties, and much more all on top of our everyday hectic routines. With all the craziness going on in our lives, working out and staying on a healthy eating plan is simply just not at the top of most lists. Here are just a few reasons why you should still want to keep up the workouts even when you are busy with holiday plans or just simply do not want to go out in the unbearable cold winter weather.Image

Benefits:

1.)  Health. Sounds pretty cliché, right? Exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, gain health benefits and have fun. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise or just being physically active a day. This strengthens bones and muscles, burns fat and calories, reduces stress levels, helps promote a better sleep cycle, strengthens your immune system, and so much more. Regular exercise truly helps to improve your well-being.

 

 

 

 

 

2.)  Increased Confidence. Everyone has to start somewhere. It might be hard to start a workout plan and stick to it when you are feeling down about yourself. Just remember that everyone has to start off somewhere. Soon you will start to see improvements such as running or walking a faster mile, lifting more weight, being able to do a little more each workout, having your clothes fit better, and much more. You can prove to yourself that you can follow through on your goals and that alone will call for more self-confidence.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.)  Goal and Reward System. When you’re just starting out or even if you have just hit that plateau, setting goals is a great way to get back on track and power through it. Set up a reward system. For example, at the end of each week, on a Sunday, weigh and measure yourself. For every inch, or pound, lost, put a dollar in a jar. Once you have reached your goal, go out and buy yourself some new jeans or a new shirt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.)  Consciousness. Once you have been working out and feeling better you will be more conscious of what you put into your body. Whether you are out to dinner with friends, or grocery shopping, you will more than likely choose the healthier options. Not because you are “on a diet”, but because you want to change your lifestyle to be healthy and happy. You also will become more conscious of the amount of sleep you get, amount of water you drink, and over all you will be more conscious of how much happier you are.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.)  Inspiring others. When people see how hard you are working and how great you look and feel it will inspire them to “jump on the bandwagon” and start up their healthy lifestyle. Get friends and family together at the gym to help motivate and inspire you to work harder.  Being active and eating healthy are just the beginning of it all!
