10 Cool and Creative Summer Date Night Ideas

Summer is officially here, which means there are lots of fun and creative date ideas for you and your honey. Not sure where to start? Here a few ideas to spice up your date nights.

1. Go to a brewery

Nothing says summer like sipping an ice cold beverage and relaxing on a patio. Head to your local brewery to learn about the great brews in your area, and don’t forget to sample something from their menu!

Don’t know where to start? Most breweries have “flights” or samples of their beers served in small tasting glasses. This lets you sample the types of beers they brew before you commit to one.

If you’re not a beer drinker, head to the nearest winery to enjoy a nice glass of wine while touring the grounds.

2. Plan a game night outdoors

Take game night to a whole new level by bringing it outdoors.  Find your favorite childhood games like Twister, Monopoly, or Uno, or new games like Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up, and have a fun night of competition. Make it a double date or a couples’ night by inviting your friends and family. You can even find outdoor-friendly games like Giant Jenga nowadays!

3. Have a Picnic

Take your lunch or dinner and head to your local park, backyard, the beach or your favorite outdoor location. Be sure to pack your sunscreen and a blanket to get cozy while you eat. If the weather isn’t cooperating, enjoy your picnic indoors.

4. Host a Barbecue or Bonfire

Grilling is one of my favorite parts of summer. It is a fun and relatively easy way to enjoy great food. So grab your favorite food and drinks and fire up the grill! Not a grill master? Opt for a nice relaxing bonfire with s’mores and your honey.

5. Star Gazing

A trip to the planetarium is nice, but you can look at the stars from the comfort of your own home. Get your favorite tunes, some wine, and a blanket, and have a romantic evening in your backyard. Apps like Pocket Universe, Night Sky or Sky Map can help you identify the stars.

6. Volunteer

There is nothing like giving back to the community. Spend time at a local pet shelter, plant a community garden, or help out at a soup kitchen. Find a cause that you are both passionate about and have fun! Volunteering is something that you can do all year.

7. Take your movie-going experience outdoors

Want to see a movie but you don’t want to be stuck indoors? Check out DriveInMovie.com or  search Google to find a drive-in location near you. Most drive-ins have a two-for-one deal, so you can watch two movies for the price of one!  If you can’t find a drive-in location near you, see if your local park does a movie night. Most of these movie nights are free during the summer. Don’t forget to bring some snacks and a comfy seat to enjoy the movie.

8. Work out together

Many gyms offer a variety of fitness activities that you can try with your partner. Try a AcroYoga, TRX or Aerial Silks class together.  Being active together is a great way to connect with your partner, and it’s good for you! Be sure to check out your local community center and park for free or reduced-price fitness classes during the summer.

Signing up for a race is a great motivation to start training together.

9. Do your own mini pub- or food- crawl

Have a list of restaurants or bars that you’ve been meaning to try?  Compile a list with your significant other and set out a weekend or two to visit the places on your list. You might even try a short trip to the next nearest city to sample the local hotspots you may not have heard of yet.

10. Make a bucket list or Date Night Jar

Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to go? Is there something you’ve wanted to try? Grab a pen, paper and your significant other and create a bucket list. Once you have a list, work on crossing things offJ. You can also create your own Date Night Jar to keep your date nights fun and fresh.

Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, there are plenty of fun and unique date options to enjoy during the summer.
