Where has the time gone? October 2015 marks the first anniversary of Strong is Our Sexy, and we’ve come a long way! From a handful of articles a month to several a week, from writing in our own voices to inviting in those of other women, from 217 Facebook followers to 3,380 … all thanks to readers like you! Your support has helped us turn our mission into a movement, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’ve got a ton of great ideas for the future, too, so just expect things to get bigger and better from here.
In the meantime, here’s a look back on some of our top posts of the past year, in no particular order:
Note – Some of these were posted before the blog got its makeover this summer, so if the formatting looks funky, forgive us.
Our April 2014 Body Image Month series is where things really took off for us. We featured an interview with a burlesque boss, essays about choosing to have breast reduction or augmentation surgery, what it means to be sexy, loving your body as you age, and how men feel about their body image, plus our first major video about how women talk to each other in destructive ways.
Guest Posts Galore! We invited other women, bloggers and non-bloggers alike, to share their thoughts, knowledge and experiences about creating a stage persona, packing for a weekend getaway, using honey in your beauty regimen, and healing from serious spinal surgery through yoga.
We challenged ourselves to try something new this summer, in a big way: the Flying Trapeze! Other popular fitness topics included Talking Moms into Taking Care of Themselves, Three Women Take on a Triathlon, and the Magic of Mud Runs.
Our 20+ Hot Winter Date Ideas was the perfect cure for the midwinter blues. And speaking of sexing things up, you also loved Personal Lubricants: What, Why, and Where? and our Intro to Intimate Massage.
We love our Mommy readers, and they love us back, especially when we wrote about Going Back to Work After Baby, Dating as a Single Mom, Saying YES to Help, and our Favorite Products for Baby’s First Year.
You work hard for your money, and we think that’s Strong and Sexy. That’s why we gave you tips on Networking Like a Boss, Talking to Your Significant Other about Finances, and Keeping Your Wedding on a Budget.
And really, there is SO. MUCH. MORE. It’s so hard to narrow down a whole year’s worth of articles to just these examples – and we suspect it’ll be even harder next year, considering what’s waiting in the wings.
